The Kansas City Chiefs kicked off training camp in a good way. As they normally do under Andy Reid, they headed to St. Joseph, Missouri, where the players will board in a dorm room for basically a month. Then, it's all football from there on out.
But, the Chiefs have dealt with one small issue regarding some of the players at camp. They are dealing with quite a bit of injuries to some of their better players. Justin Reid is out for likely all of training camp, Xavier Worthy missed some time, Joe Thuney was out but has since been activated off the PUP list, and a few others.
So, it's been tough sledding. And one player hasn't been at camp at all, and he's not injured. Clyde Edwards-Helaire, one of the few versatile running backs that the Chiefs have, has been out all of camp, with no one really knowing why.
On Monday, he revealed why.
Living With PTSD is no small feat, it's hard and very overwhelming. Within the last month, I've Had many flare-ups and the Amazing staff here at the Chiefs have been helping me get through some tough times. I’ll be back rolling next Practice! All Love, Glydro
This is nothing to play around with. PTSD is something that can take over your body and make you really not want to do anything at all. So, you hope that Edwards-Jelaire is good, and is getting and has gotten some of the help he needs.
Luckily, the team has a behavioral health specialist on staff, Dr. Shaun Tyrance. When he mentioned staff, there is a good chance he has talked to Tyrance.
Edwards-Helaire knows that he is going to get an overwhelming amount of love and support from not only the team and his teammates but Chiefs Kingdom as well.
