Former Bachelorette Katie Thurston was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year and has been keeping followers updated about her treatment journey online.

Bachelorette' Katie Thurston reveals side effects of cancer battle

A couple months ago, Katie revealed the news that her breast cancer has spread to her liver and is now at stage 4.

She’s opened up previously about how her cancer isn’t curable, but it is treatable, and she recently started a new treatment plan.

Now, Katie’s taken to Instagram to share about her new medication, which has caused some undesired side effects, and the big decisions she needs to make soon.

In a new video, she said, “I just finished my second month of treatment. And if you’re asking how long treatment is, technically forever. I am optimistic about medical advancements in the future, fingers crossed as a stage 4 girly. But right now after finishing two months of my medication, my hair is coming out in an unnatural amount of clumps. Working on that.”

Katie continued and revealed, “I’m losing my memory, that’s great… Jeff and I got in, not an argument, but a little disagreement. I was like, ‘This has happened before’ and he’s like, ‘When?’ and I was like, ‘I don’t know, but I know it has!’ We’re able to laugh about it now, but yeah, cancer is sh-tty.”

Katie also shared that she needs to make some big decisions soon regarding her liver and a possible surgery.

“Right now I’m at the process of my treatment where I have to make big decisions on how to treat my liver,” she stated. “Oh yeah, and [one of my medications] didn’t work, which is supposed to be suppressing my ovaries / hormones. Got my period. That’s not supposed to happen. So we’re switching to [another medication]. And if that doesn’t work, I might have to get my ovaries taken out. Not ideal. But the vacation was nice. Now I’m back at it again in New York City trying to live my best life.”

Fellow Bachelor Nation stars filled the comments with love and support for Katie.

Joan Vassos said, “That hit hard. I’m happy that you know we’re listening to you and how much we admire your bravery and raw emotion. Hang in there and you are in our thoughts and prayers.”

Susie Evans wrote, “Sending you so much love Katie,” and Charity Lawson echoed, “Sending you so much love 🩷”

Peter Weber’s mom, Barb, also commented, “Please know that we are all praying for you! 🙏🙏🙏You are a strong, so genuine beautiful girl and will kick cancers butt!! Sending you love!”

We’re sending our love to Katie and wishing her all the best as she goes through this next stage in her treatment journey. You’ve got this, Katie!!
