Keira Knightley lined up her next role, and it will involve cruising at sea on a big boat. Although that doesn't imply reprising her role as Elizabeth Swann in a new Pirates of the Caribbean film, it will be in Netflix's adaptation of The Woman in 10.
Netflix announced in May it will adapt Ruth Ware's bestselling novel The Woman in Cabin 10, with Keira Knightley in the leading role. Now, the streaming service unveiled the rest of the star-studded ensemble cast of the upcoming mystery thriller. The new film follows Lo Blacklock, a journalist who works for a travel magazine and gets the opportunity to review a luxury cruise, but everything takes a turn when she hears a splash that sounds like a body dropping in the water. However, the plot twist is that all the passengers on board are accounted for, and no one believes her, putting all the other passengers in danger.
The Woman in Cabin 10 will boast a cast filled with familiar names. Alongside Knightley will be Guy Pearce (L.A. Confidential, The Hurt Locker), Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso, The Fall Guy), Kaya Scodelario (The Gentlemen, Crawl), David Ajala (Star Trek: Discovery, The Dark Knight), Gitte Witt (Cadaver, The Sleepwalker), Art Malik (The Little Mermaid, Disclaimer), Daniel Ings (The Gentlemen, Lovesick), David Morrissey (The Walking Dead, Sherwood), Christopher Rygh (Vikings: Valhalla, The Head Hunter), Paul Kaye (The Stranger, Game of Thrones), Lisa Loven Kongsli (Force Majeure), and Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Loki, Lift).
Simon Stone (The Daughter, The Dig) will direct the film from a script he co-wrote with Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse. Ellen Goldsmith-Vein will produce the film. So far, there is no release date attached to the adaptation of The Woman in Cabin 10.
Keira Knightley Has Another Netflix Project in Development
Two-time Academy Award nominee Keira Knightley has been in many critically acclaimed projects so far, including 2014's The Imitation Game, 2005's Pride & Prejudice, but also Pirates of the Caribbean, where she played Elizabeth Swann. So far, there's no information whether Knightley might be interested in reprising her role in the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean 6, but she already has another exciting project on her hands.
Aside from The Woman in Cabin 10, Knightley will star in Netflix's upcoming spy series Black Doves from creator Joe Barton (The Lazaurus Project, Giri/Haji). In Black Doves, Knightley plays Helen, a woman who starts a relationship with a man who has no idea that she has a secret identity. She finds herself in danger as her partner falls victim to the dangerous London underworld. The upcoming six-episode spy series also stars Andrew Koji (Bullet Train), Ben Whishaw (Skyfall), and Sarah Lancashire (Julia).
Similar to The Woman in Cabin 10, Black Doves doesn't have an official release date, but it's expected to premiere on Netflix sometime in 2024.
