Kerby Joseph declares he wants to stay a Detroit Lion for a long time

Kerby Joseph had some things to say with Jim Rome on Monday.

Kerby Joseph led the NFL with nine interceptions last season. He was a First Team All-Pro, but also a notable and egregious Pro Bowl snub. He had the appropriate response to the popularity contest Pro Bowl voting is, with eyes on bigger things that matter more.

"I saw it and I was like, 'Wow, that's crazy.' But I wasn't really too much worried about the Pro Bowl. I ain't trying to be the in the Pro Bowl. I'm trying to be in that Super Bowl. I feel like All-Pro is the real recognition that people give," Joseph said back in early January. "I'm not really worried about it. I'm focused on the Super Bowl. I wasn't going to go the Pro Bowl anyways."

Joseph was on "The Jim Rome Show" Monday, and he had similar things to say when the dichotomy of his Pro Bowl snub and being First Team All-Pro was brought up.

"Honesty, I don't really have an issue with it. How it all shaped out … it's not unexpected that that happened," Joseph said. "I kinda already knew something was gonna happen with that. I don't have no issue with the Pro Bowl, honestly. It's a great event, it's also great for the fans and stuff. Shoutout to the guys that made the Pro Bowl. It just wasn't my year, that's fine. I wasn't really trying to go to the Pro Bowl this year, anyway, I wanted the Super Bowl, so it's cool."

Kerby Joseph wants to be a 'lifelong Lion'

Heading into the final year of his rookie contract, Joseph is lined up for a nice contract extension and Lions' general manager Brad Holmes seems inclined to oblige.

As expected, Joseph has plans to be a Lion for a long time.

"I wanna be a lifelong Lion, man. I just love Detroit", Joseph said. "I love the city, I love the people, I love the fans. It's just everything to be here. When I first came, nobody really knew who I was and they showed me love. The people that did, they just showed me love and they always supported me."

Joseph also told Rome he feels like he's the best safety in the NFL.

"I feel like I'm the best," Joseph said. "And I'm always going to strive to continue to be the best."
