As the NFL offseason is right around the halfway mark, teams have been going through free agency and are starting to find out what their rosters may look like for the upcoming 2025 season.
So far this offseason, several major contracts have been agreed upon. Players like Bills quarterback Josh Allen, Ravens running back Derrick Henry, and even Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase.
There was another major contract extension that came from the San Francisco 49ers – quarterback Brock Purdy agreed to a new five-year deal with his team.
The deal is worth $265 million with $181 million guaranteed. This will keep Purdy with the 49ers through the 2030 season.
Purdy was selected with the very last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, and he's been able to silence the doubters, climbing his way up the 49ers' depth chart within the past three years.
At just 25 years old, Purdy has led San Francisco to an NFC Championship game in 2022 and a Super Bowl appearance in 2023.
With all of this being said, head coach Kyle Shanahan and the team believed that Purdy is the future of the team, and agreed with him on a deal that will keep him in San Francisco for the rest of the decade.
Details release on Purdy's contract including a no-trade clause
At first, all that was known of the contract was that Brock Purdy would be receiving $181 million in guarantees.
Fast forward to Sunday, it's been discovered that the contract also includes a no-trade clause, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.
The newly signed quarterback holds full control over his five-year deal, with the option to decide whether he remains in San Francisco throughout its existence.
This no-trade clause is something we have seen in contracts from other stars in the league that include players like Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, and Jalen Hurts.
