Key Eagles Starter Undergoes Surgery After Super Bowl LIX

Philadelphia Eagles Pro Bowl center Cam Jurgens had a procedure done on his back in order to alleviate nerve pain, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported. He is expected to make a full recovery in time for training camp in July.

Key Eagles Starter Undergoes Surgery After Super Bowl LIX

Jurgens played a big rowl in Philadelphia's Super Bowl-winning season, starting every regular season game and all but one playoff game. He is one of the lesser known pieces of the Eagles' offensive line, but in his first full season starting after legendary center Jason Kelce retired, he proved to be a critical piece nonetheless.

Jurgens was the centerpiece of an offensive line that finished in the top six in both pass blocking and run blocking, per Pro Football Focus.

In Philadelphia's NFC Championship matchup with the Washington Commanders, Jurgens did not start but was forced into action when his replacement, Lance Dickerson, couldn't continue due to a knee injury.

Not only did Jurgens play the entire second half, but he played the entirety of Super Bowl LIX, helping the Eagles to their 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Jurgens is entering the final year of his rookie deal after being a second-round pick in 2022 out of Nebraska. The Eagles will likely be keen to keep their offensive line together after all the success they had this season. The pair of quarterback Jalen Hurts and running back Saquon Barkley benefitted significantly from the elite offensive line play in front of them.
