Key Titans free agents Mike Borgonzi will have to make decisions on

The Tennessee Titans hired Mike Borgonzi as the team's next general manager to help bring them back to prominence. For a 3-14 football team in 2024, it won't be easy.

Currently, Tennessee has 20 players scheduled to hit unrestricted free agency when the new league begins this March.

The Titans were the worst team in football last season, so keeping the roster together is far from essential.

Players who can continue to help stabilize the locker room moving forward, however, can help the influx of youth Tennessee needs to have any chance of future success. Four of the 20 pending free agents effectively fit that bill.

Defensive tackle Sebastian Joseph-Day played in every regular season game for the Titans last season. He might not have the star traits of his running mates Jeffery Simmons or rookie T'Vondre Sweat, but Joseph-Day is an effective player in coordinator Dennard Wilson's scheme. The seven-year veteran accounted for 10 hurries, three quarterback hits and three sacks in 2024 with 29 defensive stops.

Wide receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine is the definition of stability for Tennessee. After foolishly giving targets to non-factors like Treylon Burks over Westbrook-Ikhine for the first five games of the season, coach Brian Callahan finally came to his senses. Westbrook-Ikhine hauled in nine touchdown receptions from various Titans quarterbacks while playing all three receiver positions in the offense. Westbrook-Ikhine serves as critical depth.

Kicker Nick Folk is arguably the best transaction that former general manager Ran Carthon made in his two season with the club. The 40-year old made all of his extra points and missed only one field goal for Tennessee last season. As long as he wants to keep kicking, Borgonzi should want to keep him around.

Long-snapper Morgan Cox is the most decorated veteran on the Titans roster. A five-time Pro Bowler, Cox spent his first 11 NFL seasons (2010-20) with the Baltimore Ravens before joining Tennessee in 2021. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
