The Dallas Mavericks made a big offseason move by signing former Golden State Warriors superstar Klay Thompson. A member of the longtime "Splash Brothers," Thompson decided to sign with the Mavericks and pursue a championship in Dallas.
A lot has changed since Thompson made his decision. Most notably, Luka Doncic was shockingly traded by the Mavericks to the Los Angeles Lakers. Kyrie Irving also went down with a torn ACL.
Nothing has seemed to go right for Dallas this season. Thompson's dad recently spoke out about his son being in "purgatory" in his current situation.
Despite his decision to join the Mavericks being called into question, Thompson took some time to speak out about his future.
As shared by Joey Mistretta of ClutchPoints, Thompson remains very committed to the Mavericks.
"I still believe in this franchise. I'm here for two more seasons after this, so I'd love to help them return to glory that they were brought to in 2011," Thompson said.
There are many reasons to continue believing in Dallas despite all of the changes that have occurred. A trio of Davis, Irving, and Thompson could be lethal if they can all get back to full health and play to their full potential.
It sure sounds like the 35-year-old sharpshooter is with the Mavericks to stay and that he has zero interest in a trade away from the team.
During his first season in Dallas, Thompson has averaged 14.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game, while shooting 41.6 percent from the floor and 39.9 percent from three-point range.
