Kyle Richards Celebrates Two Years of Sobriety

Kyle Richards just marked her second year without a drop of alcohol. Hard to believe it’s already been two years. The time truly does fly.

RHOBH star Kyle Richards celebrates two years of being sober.

Seems like just yesterday the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star was celebrating year one. At the time, she told her fans, “I didn’t feel [drinking] had a place where I personally wanted to be.”

And while Kyle maintains that she was never an alcoholic, quitting still presented its challenges. See how she described her sobriety journey below.

Kyle faced peer pressure when going sober

In an Instagram post from July 18, Kyle shared her sobriety milestone with her followers, much like her first year. “This week was my 2 year anniversary of being alcohol free (July 15th) I can remember a time when the idea of going 2 weeks seemed impossible. I’m proud of the fact that I’ve had the willpower to stay on this path.”

Surprisingly, one of Kyle’s biggest challenges was peer pressure. As she explained, “Everyone loved ‘Party Kyle’. I think that was the hardest part of all of this. The resistance from others.” She said that it was hard for her inner people-pleaser to resist social drinking. “I realized right away that I wasn’t going to have a ton of encouragement,” she wrote.

However, she managed to flip a switch inside herself. “My mental and physical health  became a lot more important to me than feeling like I had to be ‘on’ at a party or social setting.” She also said that looking better was a good motivator. “I feel strong, energetic, and grateful for my body. I want to take care of it like it has taken care of me.”

She further expressed that alcohol probably would’ve made her recent hard times all the worse. “I want to wake up every day feeling my best. Mentally & physically strong enough to face whatever comes my way.” She finished out by saying those she had inspired also inspired her in turn.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is streaming on Peacock.
