Latest 2025 NFL mock draft gives the Cleveland Browns their Nick Chubb replacement for years to come

The Cleveland Browns have a ton to address this offseason and another big issue was added to their plate with superstar DE Myles Garrett’s trade request.

Cleveland has to find what they hope is their quarterback of the future, as well as a quarterback that can start in 2025. Deshaun Watson is all but sidelined for the year and even if he wasn’t the Browns have no reason to play him. What has been shown is enough at this point.

Another question mark is whether the Browns will bring back running back Nick Chubb, who suffered another season-ending injury near the end of 2024. In the latest 2025 NFL mock draft from A to Z Sports, the Browns find their Chubb replacement.

For full disclosure, the Browns added Penn State DE Abdul Carter and Texas CB Jahdae Barron with their first two picks in this mock draft. In addition to a new foundational piece on the defensive side, the Browns find their running back for the next few years at worst.

Johnson was one of the best running backs in college football in 2024 with 1,537 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns on 240 attempts. Johnson was a factor from the moment he got to college and had 779 yards and six touchdowns as a freshman.

As a sophomore, Johnson saw a step back in production with just 463 yards in 10 games. However, he showed everything he needed to during the statement 2024 season. Johnson is a patient runner who would fit well in the wide zone blocking scheme if the Browns get back to it. A top-3 running back talent in a very good class for the position.

Cleveland could still opt to bring back Chubb in this scenario and use both players along with Jerome Ford. However, it is clear that Johnson would ideally be the back of the future, as he is that kind of talent.
