Latest Myles Garrett trade report is exactly what Packers fans want to hear

Time to set unrealistic expectations!

NFL Pro Bowl Games

This is kinda the most exciting part about the NFL offseason because no one knows anything. After a week of Branded Interviews shaped what everyone's going to talk about in the time between now and free agency, things are about to maybe get chaotic on the pass rushing market. Myles Garrett, Maxx Crosby, and Micah Parsons (?) all found themselves in Super Bowl week trade conversations, which ended up being weirdly fitting for a game defined by defensive line play.

It took, like, maybe 90 seconds for the Packers to be linked to Garrett after he publicly requested a trade, and for good reason – the pass rush stats weren't kind to Green Bay this year, and taking a big swing on the proverbial last piece in the puzzle does kinda feel like where this Packers team is at the moment. Plus, if bringing in Xavier McKinney and Josh Jacobs last year shows anything, it's that the Packers' front office will obviously never make a free agency mistake ever again.

And if you're a Packers fan who lives and dies by NFL Insider Stuff, Monday morning was good to you. While doing a big roundup of free agent tidbits, James Palmer spoke some on the Packers' position in the Garrett sweepstakes. Just don't listen to the part where he lists the Lions, Bears, and Commanders before them.

It still sounds like the Packers could pull off a trade for Myles Garrett

"I wouldn't sleep on the Packers," Palmer said on Monday morning. "In my opinion, I just think that would be an intriguing spot right there. They turned the ball over a ton, but they've had some success with acquiring some monster pass rusher free agents in the past ... I think that'd be really, really huge for the Packers, if they want to get finally into another group. I know they need more consistent play from Jordan Love, I just think that one's kinda interesting to me."

I will TAKE it. Now I'm not sleeping on the Packers either. I don't know how much of this is actual reporting as much as informed-guessing/agent legwork, but I also don't care. Palmer's plugged in enough for me to get my hopes up. Bringing in Garrett – not to mention watching the Lions and Bears lose out on him – would be what Offseason Winners do, and that's what I'm focused on right now.
