George Kittle was carted off the field during the third quarter of the 49ers game against the Vikings.
Update: George Kittle returned to the 49ers-Vikings game early in the fourth quarter.
Things haven't gone well for the San Francisco 49ers in Week 2 against the Minnesota Vikings.
According to the latest injury news surrounding All-Pro tight end George Kittle, things seem to be getting worse.
With the Niners trailing 20-7 after a series of mistakes, reports broke in that Kittle was carted off to the locker room not long after quarterback Brock Purdy tossed an interception that led to a Vikings touchdown the subsequent play.
It wasn't clear if Kittle suffered some kind of injury in the previous series. No replay existed that showed Kittle going down, but his exiting on a cart is less than ideal, especially considering the veteran's lengthy injury history.
However, going to the locker room is a pressing problem, especially in light of the tight end boasting a five-catch, 56-yard game with a touchdown prior to exiting.
George Kittle injury updates after leaving 49ers vs. Vikings
During the CBS broadcast of the game, news on Kittle's status turned out to be more promising than initially anticipated.
Reports surfaced that Kittle was merely heading to the locker room for an IV, getting some replenishment instead of any sort of major injury that would create even more headaches for San Francisco.
That said, things aren't going well for the 49ers during the game. If they're looking for a massive comeback, they'll need Kittle to return and continue his playmaking ways.
