According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the Lightning are looking to make a move.
The Tampa Bay Lightning currently sport a 31-20-4 record and are third in the Atlantic Division standings. They are also undoubtedly trending in the right direction, winning each of their last four games.
With this, the expectation is that the Lightning will be buyers at the 2025 NHL trade deadline. In a recent episode of 32 Thoughts: The Podcast, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman provided a big update on the Lightning's trade plans.
"I heard they're [Lightning] really looking out there," Friedman said. "I heard Tampa is really, really looking for a forward... They are not going to sit pat. I have too many people telling me this week that the Lightning are active, and they want to strike. They want to strike."
It is not surprising to hear that the Lightning are looking to add a forward right now. While their star forwards are providing excellent offense this season, they could use another top-six forward, especially for their second-line right wing spot.
Given how the Lightning have played as of late, they have helped their playoff chances tremendously and are in a prime position to be buyers. It will be fascinating to see what kind of move they make from here.
