This Tampa Bay Lightning defender has the potential to take his game to another level next season.
After appearing in 21 games with the Tampa Bay Lightning from 2021-22 to 2022-23, Darren Raddysh cemented himself a permanent spot on the club's blueline this past season. In 82 games for the Lightning in 2023-24, the right-shot defenseman set new career highs with six goals, 27 assists, and 33 points.
Overall, it was a very solid season for Raddysh. He provided the Lightning with some much-needed offense from the point and received plenty of playing time because of it. When looking at the Lightning's current defense, it seems pretty likely that he will once again play on the club's top pairing with Victor Hedman this upcoming season.
While Raddysh is coming off a strong campaign, the potential for him to hit another level next season is entirely there. Keep in mind, this past season was Raddysh's first full season in the NHL, so he is more adjusted to the sport's most competitive league heading into 2024-25. Thus, he could see his offensive totals go up next season.
Raddysh should also be put into a position to succeed. As noted above, he is a prime candidate for top-pairing minutes. In addition, given his offensive contributions from the point, he should also see power-play time.
Nevertheless, it will be exciting to see what Raddysh does for an encore after his breakout season. He is heading into this season as a crucial part of the Lightning's roster.
