The Lightning should consider taking a shot on this Blues forward.
It is fair to argue that the Tampa Bay Lightning could use more forward depth right now. This is especially the case at the right wing position.
With the Lightning needing more forward depth, they should seriously consider taking a flier on Kasperi Kapanen. The St. Louis Blues placed the 6-foot-1 winger on waivers on Monday (Nov. 18), so he is available for the taking.
Kapanen has had a quiet start to the season, posting one goal in 10 games. However, when looking at his previous success, he could be an excellent low-risk player for the Lightning to take a chance on.
Kapanen has recorded at least 30 points in five of his previous nine seasons. He also scored 20 goals with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2018-19 and had 15 goals and 34 points in 66 games split between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Blues in 2022-23.
Thus, when playing at his best, Kapanen can provide solid secondary scoring. This is something the Lightning could use right now.
If the Lightning claimed Kapanen, he would provide them with another option for their bottom six and second power-play unit.
