Lightning sign Jack Finley to three-year extension

On Sunday, Tampa Bay Lightning general manager Julien BriseBois announced that the team had signed forward Jack Finley to a three-year contract extension.

Lightning see bright future for prospect Jack Finley

The deal, set to kick in next season, has an NHL AAV of $775,000. The 2025-26 season will be a two-way contract, with the final two years converting to a one-way deal.

Finley has just come to the end of his entry-level contract, which had an AAV of $896,667.

The St. Louis native was originally taken in the second round, 57th overall, of the 2025 NHL Draft. He turned pro during the 2022-23 season with the Lightning’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch. That’s where Finley has spent the majority of his professional career.

The former Spokane Chief did make his NHL debut this past season. On Jan. 14 against the Boston Bruins, Finley registered 8:25 of ice time and was a +1 in a 6-2 loss. He failed to register a point in what ended up being his lone game with the big club this season.

With the Crunch, the 22-year-old scored a career-high 14 goals, posting 14 assists and 28 points in 40 games, posting a +11 rating as well. He played in all three games for Syracuse during the Calder Cup Playoffs but bowed out in the North Division Semifinals via a three-game sweep at the hands of the Rochester Americans. Finley didn’t register a point in the postseason.

Having played fewer games, Finley came short of matching his career-high 32 points that he notched during the 2023-24 season.

In three-plus seasons with Syracuse, Finley has scored 39 goals and 42 assists for 81 points. In five playoff games, he has not placed his name on the scoresheet.
