Lions’ Aidan Hutchinson’s Secret to Dominance Revealed

Detroit Lions pass-rusher Aidan Hutchinson is quickly developing into one of the most dominant players at one of the most vital positions to a team’s success across the league.

Lions’ Aidan Hutchinson’s Secret to Dominance Revealed

Hutchinson was a one-man wrecking ball against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, setting a franchise record with five sacks in a Week 2 loss, and has been nearly unblockable through the first two weeks of this season.

The No. 2 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft’s dominance has been easy to see to those inside the league, even before his arrival in the motor city.

Through his first 36 games, Hutchinson has logged 26.5 sacks while adding 106 pressures, underscoring his dominance against offensive tackles and how disruptive he is to opposing quarterbacks.

What is Powering Detroit Lions Pass Rusher Aidan Hutchinson

While Hutchinson’s consistent high-motor is a driving force behind his success, the 24-year-old is one of the best in the league when it comes to the spin move.

Pro Football Focus released its new spin-move rankings while pointing out Hutchinson has used the move 84 times so far this season with a league-high 24.06 spin move grade.

The next-highest graded player is Steelers edge rusher Alex Highsmith, with an 11.15 mark.

“Hutchinson is unmatched with the spin move,” the PFF staff points out. “Hutchinson has used a spin move on 20% of his pass-rush snaps this season and leads the league in spin move grade.”

It has become obvious that Hutchinson has a vast repertoire of pass rush moves in his arsenal, but no one is using the spin move more often or effectively than he is at this point.
