The Detroit Lions' 2025 playoff run ended with a resounding thud in a 45-31 NFL Divisional Round loss to the Washington Commanders that few saw coming.
Injuries caught up to then-defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn's defense as the shorthanded Lions were embarrassed at home.
Detroit got off to a rough start in that game as rising star cornerback Amik Robertson broke his arm while tackling Terry McLaurin of the Commanders on the second play of the game for the Lions' defense.
On Wednesday, Robertson pushed his chips to the center of the table as he shared a 2025 NFL season promise with his more than 35,000 followers on X.
"God say the same... This year will be my best year of my NFL career.. I'm claiming it," Robertson said along with a "Goodmorning" comment and an emoji of a man doing yoga and/or meditating.
Robertson came to Detroit after four seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders and became an anchor player in Glenn's secondary, famously holding Minnesota Vikings superstar Justin Jefferson to just three catches for 54 yards in the Lions' NFC North Division clinching 31-9 win on January 5, 2025.
Robertson forced three fumbles last season, ranking ninth in the NFL in that category. A scrappy 5-foot-9, 183 pound cornerback, Robertson set the tone for the Lions' defense all season and hopes to do the same for new defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard's group next year.
