The Detroit Lions secured the number one overall seed in the NFC on Sunday Night Football with a 31-9 win over the Minnesota Vikings at Ford Field.
The Lions were led by a cast of many on defense including cornerback Amik Robertson, who held star Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson to three catches for 54 yards on the evening.
The Lions harassed quarterback Sam Darnold into 18-for-41 passing for 166 yards and no touchdowns as they took control late.
Afterward, Robertson revealed the difference between Jefferson's postgame behavior after the Lions' first win in Minnesota earlier this season compared to their season-ending, division title clinching win on Sunday night in the Motor City.
Robertson said that Jefferson told him "good game" after scoring on him in Week 7 in Minnesota.
"After this game, he just walked off the field," Robertson said, adding that it rubbed him the wrong way according to Lions reporter Nolan Bianchi.
Robertson was told by Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn and coach Dan Campbell prior to the game that Jefferson would be his responsibility.
The Lions' unsung hero reveled in his assignment and had a message for fans as he neatly shut down one of the best receivers in the league on Sunday night under the brightest lights of the 2024-2025 NFL season.
"You can't bury what comes from the dirt," Robertson said.
