Lions’ Dan Campbell Updates Pursuit of Pass Rusher in Wake of Aidan Hutchinson Injury

The Detroit Lions beat the Minnesota Vikings this past Sunday in a Game Of The Year contender that had a little bit of everything.

Aidan Hutchinson likely down 4-6 months with broken leg, Lions coach Dan Campbell says - Yahoo Sports

Jake Bates' 44-yard field goal became the eventual game winner in what became a shootout between the two most successful teams in the NFC North Division so far this season.

The 31-29 win obscured a Lions defense that appeared somewhat unsure of itself at times in the wake of star pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson's broken leg injury during the previous week's game vs. the Dallas Cowboys.

Defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn's unit blitzed on 20 of 35 Sam Darnold dropbacks, their highest rate in a game since Glenn's first with the Lions in 2021.

Recently, Lions head coach Dan Campbell updated the Lions faithful on the situation, stating that the team's general manager Brad Holmes is working to find a solution to the pass rushing conundrum facing Detroit.

"Brad's been grinding on this, ever since last week," Campbell said. "He's been going and looking at really everything that could potentially be available. And so much of it is making calls," he added.

The rumor mill has linked Detroit to former Eastern Michigan star Maxx Crosby along with value priced potential trade targets.

Campbell stated that the team is taking many factors into account before making a potential move and that Holmes is not going to "force it."

"First of all, who do you like on tape? Who is worth something? And it's not just because somebody says they're a good player," Campbell said.

"You've got to put your own eyes on it and do the homework.

"But believe me, we're looking," Campbell added. "Brad's on it, and we'll find somebody that fits us and brings something. Like I said, a complementary piece that helps that d-line."
