Lions fans will love David Montgomery's Super Bowl 59 prediction

As two teams prepare for Super Bowl 59 this week, the Detroit Lions and their fan base probably continue to ponder over what could have been this past season.

Lions fans will love David Montgomery's Super Bowl 59 prediction

After a magical run that saw the Lions earn the top seed in the NFC, Detroit fell short of the ultimate goal, unfortunately.

During Super Bowl week, the NFC Divisional Round loss likely still stings for Lions players. But, that didn't stop them from showing out down in New Orleans. Running back David Montgomery was one of them to enjoy the festivities of the week and offer some of his time to the media.

Montgomery sat down with FanSided's own Ian McMillan Stacking the Box and Wyatt Spalding to discuss a couple of different topics, including of course, Super Bowl 59 as well as his current partnership with Scouting.

More Lions news:

When on the topic of football, Montgomery was asked who his team will be on Sunday for the Super Bowl, and he did not hesitate. His answer was clear, concise and to the point:

"My team on Sunday is the Detroit Lions and I don't care who wins."

When given the opportunity for a good, old-fashioned prediction, Montgomery rejected the opportunity altogether. It was a sign of the Lions running back being a fierce and focused competitor. Who could blame him?

The only thing that matters is the success of the Lions.

David Montgomery seems laser-focused on winning a championship with the Lions

Beyond his opinion on the big game Sunday, Montgomery talked about his recovery from last year's injury in conjunction with what he believes his Lions need to do in order to win a Super Bowl.

The running back talked about Detroit needing to finish games and said, if they can do that, then they're not far off from bringing home a championship.

Speaking on behalf of Scouting, Montgomery took some time to deviate from football and focus on something close to his heart. He not only gave some insight into how important his partnership with the organization was but what it did for him as a child.

Finally, Montgomery also let it be known that his counterpart, Jahmyr Gibbs, was "super special" and described how great it's been to play next to him, noting the two of them are able to feed off one another and keep each other fresh throughout the season.

Hopefully, the 2025 campaign proves to be even more fruitful for Montgomery and the Lions and this team is able to finish what they started.
