Jalen-Reeves Maybin (neck) and Malcolm Rodriguez (ankle) both didn't participate in walk-through practice on Wednesday, according to the Lions' injury report.

Newly-acquired defensive end Za'Darius Smith also didn't practice, as the Lions are giving him two days off since his bye week would've been this week with the Cleveland Browns.

Head coach Dan Campbell spoke about Smith taking some days off to reporters on Wednesday.

“I thought that was important. I mean, he’s been in this league a while and they were actually just going on their bye week when he got the call from us, and everything got done. So, let him do what he needs to do, refresh, get back here Friday," Campbell said.

Reeves-Maybin suffered the injury against the Green Bay Packers this past weekend but was able to return to the game. As for Rodriguez, he injured his ankle against the Tennessee Titans in Week 8 and hasn't returned to the football field since.

Detroit had some good news for some who haven't seen action as of late, as running back Sione Vaki (knee), defensive lineman Josh Paschal (illness), defensive lineman Mekhi Wingo (ankle), defensive tackle Brodric Martin (knee), cornerback Emmanuel Moseley (pec) and safety Ifeatu Melifonwu (ankle) all practiced in full.

Martin, Moseley and Melifonwu had their injured reserve windows opened to return to the team, as Martin has 13 days and Moseley and Melifonwu each have 20 days left to evaluate their injuries.

Meanwhile, the Texans are a bit more banged up heading into the "Sunday Night Football" matchup.

Here's a list of players who didn't practice on Wednesday:

  • DE Will Anderson Jr. (ankle)
  • DE Derek Barnett (calf/shoulder)
  • DT Foley Fatukasi (groin/shoulder)
  • OT Kenyon Green (shoulder)
  • DE Dylan Horton (illness)
  • RB Dameon Pierce (knee)

Houston also has seven players who were limited as well:

  • LB Azeez Al-Shaair (knee)
  • LB Jake Hansen (ankle)
  • DE Jerry Hughes (hip)
  • G Shaq Mason (hip)
  • CB Jeff Okudah (quad)
  • OT Laremy Tunsil (Rest)

The Lions and Texans kick off at 7:20 p.m. CT at NRG Stadium on Sunday.
