It looks like the front offices of the Detroit Lions and Cleveland Browns could have a lot to talk about this offseason.
The Browns have already had their biggest star request a trade this offseason and he happens to play a position where the Lions are looking to upgrade this offseason.
While Myles Garrett is the obvious headliner for the Browns' trade candidates, he is certainly not the only player Cleveland could move on from this season as they look to fix their cap situation.
One of these other trade candidates could be of particular interest to the Lions.
In an article examining this offseason's top trade candidates, Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox named the Lions a potential suitor for Browns cornerback Greg Newsome II.
For the Lions to be interested in Newsome, they would have to overlook a pretty awful 2024 season from him.
This past season he allowed opposing quarterbacks to complete 62.7% of their pass attempts when throwing his way and gave up 9.6 yards per pass attempt.
However, his previous seasons could give some hope that this was just a bump in the road.
He had a very strong 2023 season, allowing a completion percentage of just 56.7% and only 6.7 yards per target. In 2022 those numbers were 58% and 5.9 yards per target.
The Lions definitely need some help at corner as they allowed 7.2 yards per passing attempt this past season and could lose Carlton Davis to free agency after he was their top corner in 2024.
