Lions News: Aaron Glenn pays another huge compliment to Dan Campbell - Pride Of Detroit

In years past, Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell has been upfront about his desire to help his coaching staff progress in their respective career paths. In true Campbell fashion, he often cites how instrumental mentors like the legendary Bill Parcells was for his development, and how much he learned coaching under Sean Payton in New Orleans. Now, as one of the most respected coaches in the league, he is paying it forward.

Even in the early days of Campbell’s tenure in Detroit, those around Allen Park knew how special then-defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn was. As he does with other assistants in the present day, Campbell would often have Glenn addressing the entire team. Players naturally gravitated towards him, and now as the head man for the New York Jets, Glenn is making sure he credits his former boss for giving him the opportunity back in the Motor City.

“I give a lot of credit to Coach Campbell in Detroit,” said Glenn in a press conference last week “Because he allowed me to actually act in the position of being a head coach. To be able to do the calendar for the offseason, to plan training camp out—be able to make decisions that he was supposed to make, but he allowed me to make those decisions to get me ready to be in this position.”

He would go on to talk about his process of protecting the players, and putting them in the best position to improve on a daily basis—something that Campbell has preached from day one in Detroit.

You can watch the entire video here, with Glenn beginning to talk about Campbell’s influence right around the 6:11 mark.
