The Detroit Lions have a lot to figure out in the middle of their defensive line this offseason.
Alim McNeil is recovering from a torn ACL and his return timeline still hasn't been revealed.
Levi Onwuzurike is currently slated to become a free agent after finishing out his rookie contract.
D.J. Reader has been a popular name when discussing players who could be released this offseason to clear cap space.
With so much uncertainty at defensive tackle, the Lions could turn to the free agent market to give themselves a bit more clarity at the position.
In an article predicting where the top free agent at each position would land this offseason, Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox predicted the Lions would sign Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle B.J. Hill.
While poaching players from the Bengals' defense after their putrid 2024 season might not seem like a great idea, Hill could be one exception.
He has been a solid contributor for the Bengals throughout his time with the team and was able to make an impact against both the run and pass in 2024 even with the defense as a whole struggling.
Hill was a part of 56 total tackles, including a career high seven tackles for loss, this past season.
He also racked up 32 pressures according to Pro Football Focus.
That would make him a good fit for a Lions defense that needs improvement in its pass rush and against the run.
Hill wouldn't be the most high-profile signing for the Lions, but he'd definitely bring some stability to a defensive tackle rotation that is facing some uncertainty right now.
