Lions Re-Sign Another Veteran Pass Rusher on One-Year Deal

The Detroit Lions haven't gone out and gotten the pass rushing upgrade their fans were hoping for so far this offseason, but they have been busy making moves on the edge.

Lions Re-Sign Another Veteran Pass Rusher on One-Year Deal

They re-signed Marcus Davenport on a one-year deal in the first week of free agency and then let Za'Darius Smith go.

This week, they've already made a move to maintain their depth at defensive end by re-signing Pat O'Connor on a one-year deal of his own.

Now it looks like they'll be able to hold on to another one of their veterans on the edge.

ESPN's Adam Schefter revealed he was told by agents Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey that the Lions are re-signing defensive end Al-Quadin Muhammad on a one-year deal.

Muhammad landed with the Lions in the middle of the 2024 season after having a rough previous year.

He had missed six games during the 2023 season because of a suspension stemming from a violation of the NFL's performance-enhancing drug policy. He didn't end up getting on the field during the regular season for the whole year.

Muhammad then spent most of August 2024 with the Cowboys, but was released just before the start of the season.

He found his way to the Lions in October in a move that worked out well for both sides.

He contributed three sacks and 24 pressures in nine games for the Lions to help a struggling pass rush.

Now Muhammad will get the chance to contribute as a depth option again in 2025, but this time will be a part of a Lions pass rush that should have less trouble getting to opposing QBs with Hutchinson back in the lineup.
