The Detroit Lions have signed three players and waived another coming out of the weekend’s rookie minicamp practices.
They signed defensive lineman Raequan Williams, wide receiver Malik Taylor and tight end Luke Deal. Williams was a former standout defensive lineman at Michigan State, and Taylor played his college ball at Ferris State University.
Deal spent six seasons at Auburn, where he was a two-time captain. He was an undrafted rookie coming out of the draft, while Williams and Taylor have each had a taste of the league.
Williams saw game action while with the Philadelphia Eagles, and has also spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Carolina Panthers.
Taylor, the Flint native, spent three years with the Green Bay Packers, two with the New York Jets and broke into the league as an undrafted free agent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers back in 2019.
The Lions also waived tight end Caden Prieskorn while announcing the trio of signings.
Prieskorn, a Michigan native, spent his five-year college career between Memphis and Ole Miss before going undrafted. He had 14 touchdown catches across his final three seasons between Memphis and Ole Miss.
The Lions had two open roster spots entering the day, thanks to the exemption earned through drafting Boise State edge rusher Ahmed Hassanein. These signings, paired with Prieskorn getting waived, put the franchise at the 90-player limit.
