Lions sign veteran quarterback

The Detroit Lions are making some final moves before the start of the 2024 NFL regular season.

Lions sign veteran quarterback

The team recently saw backup quarterback Hendon Hooker go down with a concussion. While it may not be as important as the starting job, the backup quarterback position is crucial to a team’s roster in case the starter suffers an injury. Detroit has signed a veteran quarterback to fill in the position for Hooker while he is out with an injury.

The Lions have signed veteran quarterback Jake Fromm to add depth to the position after the injury to Hooker. According to head coach Dan Campbell, the team believes that Fromm can learn the scheme of the offense quickly.

The signing comes from the team not wanting to play either starter Jared Goff or third-stringer Nate Sudfeld in the preseason.

Fromm was drafted by the Buffalo Bills back in 2020. He started two games for the New York Giant in 2021 and was released by the Washington Commanders a few months ago.

In his career, the quarterback has 210 passing yards, a touchdown and three interceptions while connecting on 27-of-60 attempts. While Fromm has not experienced a lot of playing time in his career, Detroit seems confident in his ability to play snaps under center if need be.
