The Detroit Lions are 5-1 through their first six game of the 2024 NFL season. Detroit knocked off the Minnesota Vikings 31-29 on Sunday to take over first place in the NFC North.
However, Detroit could be going all in for a difference maker in the very near future.
Lions Suddenly Sky Rocketing As Favorites To Trade For Franchise Altering Leader
Alex Kay of Bleacher Report went into detail about how Myles Garrett could wind up in the Motor City:
- Cleveland Browns receive:
- 2025 first-round pick
- 2026 first-round pick
- Conditional 2026 third-round pick (becomes a 2026 second-round pick if Detroit reaches the Super Bowl)
- Detroit Lions receive: Edge Myles Garrett
The Detroit Lions were dealt a crushing blow when it was revealed that Aidan Hutchinson would be sidelined for the remainder of the season.
While there’s been whispers that Hutchinson could recover and potentially be available in time for Super Bowl LIX, the Lions will have a much tougher time reaching the big game without the star edge rusher in the fold.
Detroit managed to hold off the surging Minnesota Vikings to take over first place in the NFC North in their first full game without Hutchinson, but they gave up a season-high 29 points while allowing Sam Darnold to complete 22 of his 27 throws.
Even with the defense collecting a respectable four sacks, the Lions largely failed to keep consistent pressure on the opposing passer without Hutchinson’s ability to disrupt.
Although Detroit would have to give up multiple first- and second-round picks to acquire him, Garrett would guarantee Detroit’s defense finishes as one of the best in the NFL in 2024. With the Lombardi Trophy in sight, the risk is worth taking, and Garrett in the lineup would be a difference maker late in the season.
