The Detroit Lions' offense has set plenty of records this season en route to a 15-2 record. Coach Dan Campbell's Lions knocked off the rival Minnesota Vikings on Sunday night, securing the NFC North Division title and home field throughout the playoffs.
Recently, the Lions' highly successful season got the spotlight treatment from the statistics department, which uncovered something surprising about Detroit's 2024-2025 season.
The Lions' latest achievement places them in elite company with two of Tom Brady and Bill Belichick's best teams of all-time, including the 2007 Patriots, who went undefeated during the regular season with a 16-0 final record.
"The only teams in @NFL history to produce a season with at least 550 points scored and a +220 point differential: 1. 2024 @Lions, 2. 2012 Patriots, 3. 2007 Patriots (who went 16-0), 4. 1998 Vikings #OnePride," the Detroit Lions' PR account wrote on X.
Coach Campbell's Lions have a bye in the first round of the playoffs, the only NFC team to have one.
It looms large considering Detroit hasn't had a bye since Week 5 and is hoping for the return of running back David Montgomery and other injured players with the winner of the Rams vs. Vikings game next on the docket.
