Throughout the offseason, Detroit Lions fans have been waiting to see how the team would improve a pass rush that had just two players reach four sacks in 2024.

So far, they haven't gotten the answer.

In fact, the actually let one of the two players who reached four sacks in 2024 go.

At the start of free agency there was hope a big move might come on the front.

Now the best options there have all found new teams.

That has many expecting the team to try and find a new edge rusher in the first round of this year's draft.

However, Bleacher Report's Moe Moton has now suggested a new way the Lions could attempt to address their need on the edge.

In an article discussing surprise trades that could still happen this offseason, Moton pitched a trade that would send Philadelphia Eagles edge Bryce Huff to the Lions in exchange for a fourth-round pick and a seventh-rind pick in this year's NFL Draft.

Trading for Huff would be risky for the Lions.

The $51 million contract he signed with the Eagles last offseason was lost entirely earned in one season.

Huff was a force for the New York Jets during the 2023 season, racking up 10 sacks in his final season with the team.

However, the rest of his career hasn't been quite so impressive.

Huff has totaled just 10 sacks over the course of his other four NFL seasons.

This past season, he had just two sacks and 20 total pressures over 12 games. Those numbers ranked 102nd and 87th respectively among edge rushers according to Pro Football Focus.

The Lions weren't willing to spend on players with proven histories of production or less expensive options with question marks. The makes it seem pretty unlikely they'd spend on Huff and his one year of impressive production.

The Lions are certain to make a move of some kind on the edge this offseason, but this probably won't be it.
