Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown Sends 11-Word Message to Ben Johnson After Coach Leaves for Division Rival

Former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson seems to have become public enemy number one this week among Lions fans.

Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown Sends 11-Word Message to Ben Johnson After Coach Leaves for Division Rival

The fall from grace came as a result of him choosing to take a job as the head coach of the Chicago Bears just a couple of days after the Lions were eliminated from the playoffs.

He has even caught some heat from the Lions roster as running back David Montgomery, himself a former Bears player, posted his reaction to his Instagram story after the news broke.

Now another member of Johson's former offense has chimed in.

On the "St. Brown Podcast" that he does with his brother, star Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown revealed that he had a clear message for Johnson in their latest conversation.

He told Johnson, "For two times a year, Ben, we're gonna (expletive) you up."

According to St. Brown, Johnson responded, "I'ma (expletive) you up."

In the same podcast episode, St. Brown also refuted the idea that Johnson was anything other than fully focused on the Divisional Round matchup against the Commanders because of his job change.

St. Brown said, "Trust me, I know Ben. He was as locked in as can be for that game."

Over eight career games against the Bears, St. Brown averages 5.75 catches for 64.4 yards and has only scored two touchdowns.

Those are all actually below his career averages of 6.5 catches for 73.5 yards and 0.5 touchdowns per game.

The Lions have still put together a record of 5-3 against the Bears in those games, including a sweep of the Bears in 2024.

Now his offensive coordinator's defection could give St. Brown a bit of added incentive to put up gaudy numbers when the Lions meet up with the Bears in 2025.

In what was already the NFL's most interesting division, this move from Johnson has added another reason to be excited about the 2025 season of NFC North football.
