Rinna and Hamlin have been together for 32 years, and married for 27 of them
Yes, Lisa Rinna and Harry Hamlin know how lucky they are!
At the Los Angeles LGBT Center Gala on May 18, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum opened up about her and Hamlin’s 32 years together — 27 of which they’ve spent married — and her comments may disappoint the hopeless romantics.
"I think it is really luck,” Rinna, 60, told PEOPLE at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium, adding, “I think it's luck. I really do.”
“Because who would've ever thought? I mean we really love each other and respect each other, so that's helpful,” she said of Hamlin, 72. “And I really like him as a human. I think he's a really good man and I feel really lucky. But I think it's very hard to find someone that you want to spend that much time with, right?”
So, unfortunately, there is no special hack to an eternity of happiness — at least, according to Rinna.
“I don't think there's any secret,” she said, adding, “I just think we got very lucky that we found each other.”
But, the couple has previously answered the same question — “Is there a secret to a successful relationship?” — differently.
As they approached a quarter-century of marriage in 2022, the pair spilled the secret to their successful relationship to PEOPLE, explaining that, contrary to popular belief, it actually has a lot to do with how fundamentally different they are.
While Hamlin likes to spend his free time outside, Rinna is happier at the spa, the couple revealed, with the RHOBH alum adding that they "eat differently, sleep differently" — and even have very different astrological signs.
Yet, they’ve been married since 1997, so these differences clearly bring them together, the couple — who also shares two daughters, Delilah Belle, 25, and Amelia Gray, 22 — explained at the time.
"We have nothing in common. Nothing," Rinna told PEOPLE. “I mean, we're kind people, I think in general we're both kind-hearted but we have nothing in common. Zero, zip, zilch.”
Hamlin chimed in, "I'm an outdoorsman, I like to camp and go up in the mountains and her idea of camping is anything below the 10th floor of the Four Seasons.”
“But I think love comes into the picture somewhere there, too,” the actor added. “Love, respect, and listening and attraction."
