Logan Paul has thrown his hat into the ring to potentially replace Mike Tyson and square off against his own brother, Jake Paul, in Texas. The original bout between Jake and the boxing icon was set for July 20 but has been rescheduled to November 15 due to Tyson's health issues.
Tyson experienced an ulcer flare-up during a flight, which led to a halt in training and the postponement of his comeback.
During an episode of his podcast featuring Donald Trump, Logan revealed his willingness to step in: "I was willing to step in for Mike Tyson, when Tyson got sick and had to postpone his fight," he disclosed. "We actually ran it up the chain at Netflix."
Trump weighed in on the family dynamics, remarking, "It's hard for brothers to fight," Logan responded with the financial incentive in mind: "Not for Netflix. Not for a big 'ole bag. Figure it out once and for all. Me and Jake decided that, obviously we both come from a place of love. And whatever the outcome would be, we would have to be okay with it. But obviously, I love my brother."
Despite the delay in facing Tyson, Jake is expected to clash with ex-UFC combatant and current bare-knuckle brawler Mike Perry soon. The two have been trading barbs for some time, hinting that a showdown is imminent.
Jake has a history of facing ex-UFC fighters in the boxing ring, including Nate Diaz, Anderson Silva and Ben Askren. His venture into professional boxing began last year when he was defeated by Tommy Fury for the first time.
Logan's boxing career has been less successful, with a draw in his initial match against KSI followed by a loss in the rematch in Los Angeles. He later fought Mayweather in an exhibition match that wasn't scored, before his fight with Danis last year was abruptly halted in the final round due to a security breach in the ring.
This is not the first time Logan has thrown his name to replace Tyson after news broke the fight would have to be postponed. In early June, Logan wrote on X regarding the fight, seemingly calling out his brother while also attempting to salvage the highly-anticipated fight.
"So Mike Tyson's out? I'll step in and we can settle this one and for all @jakepaul?" the elder Paul wrote on social media. "Mom doesn't want me to KO you, but f--- it. Loser has to change their last name."
Despite the two being brothers, both Logan and Jake have had a heated rivalry in years past. For instance, Jake feels like he had been slighted by Logan after he teamed up with Jake's long-term nemesis KSI to begin and promote Prime Energy, a sports drink similar to Gatorade.
Although Logan's offer to Jake might gain more traction among their fans, it doesn't appear as if Jake ultimately will not take on Logan in the ring. Tyson also had made it clear that he is still eyeing a fight with Jake, even though it had been postponed for the time being.
"My body is in better overall shape than it has been since the 1990s and I will be back to my full training schedule soon," Tyson wrote in a statement. "Jake Paul, this may have bought you some time, but in the end you will still be knocked out and out of boxing for good. I appreciate everyone’s patience and can't wait to deliver an unforgettable performance later this year.”
