For months now, fans have speculated whether Bronny James will join the NBA via the upcoming draft or stay in college. With the young star going for the former, Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James is all hyped up for his son’s impending professional debut.
A few years ago, LeBron declared that he plans to the play with Bronny for his final year in the NBA. Since then, the public has paid more attention to the younger James as he played basketball at the high school level.
Before he ever got the chance to make his collegiate debut, Bronny suffered a cardiac arrest to a congenital heart disease. Fortunately, he recovered just in time to play for the USC Trojans for the 2023-24 NCAA season. However, the young star only received a few minutes on the court and didn’t perform to everyone’s expectations. During that period, he averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game.
During the Draft Combine, Bronny managed to turn his narrative around by putting up a good performance. As a result, several franchises are now seriously considering selecting him in the 2024 NBA Draft , including the Lakers and Phoenix Suns.
Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James Hyped Up As Bronny Decides To Stay in 2024 NBA Draft
Just recently, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul announced Bronny is staying in the draft. This prompted the four-time NBA champion to react to this latest development.
At this point in time, Bronny is projected to land in the second round. Also, the younger James has rejected workout invitations from several NBA teams, but only accepted those handed out by the Lakers and Suns. For the elder James, though, it’s not yet known whether he’ll make good on his promise to play with Bronny or not. In any case, his son is expected to spend his time in the G-League to prepare for his professional stint in the NBA.
It remains to be seen where Bronny will actually land within a few months. For sure, there’ll be a lot of eyes on the father and son to see how their next season will play out. If he does end up playing for LeBron for a full season, the hype and expectation these two will generate will be unprecedented. Hopefully, the younger James is ready to play at the professional level.
