ESPN Analyst Louis Riddick recently said on "First Take" that Miami quarterback Cam Ward is a transformational player as evidenced by the stories and circumstances of his college career. For those reasons, Riddick believes the Tennessee Titans should select Ward with the first overall pick in April.
"Even at this point in time, people still don't really believe that he is as good as he is," said Riddick. "He directed that passing attack down there at Miami this year with the kind of precision and the kind of maturity that is worthy of being considered a No. 1 overall pick."
The Titans have too many problems to fix with just a single draft pick but they'll have the opportunity to make a major dent with the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. There is no consensus about who the team will pick, and given that new general manager Mike Borgonzi has never called the shots before, it makes the first pick even more of a mystery.
Players like Penn State's Abdul Carter or Colorado's Travis Hunter should be in the mix as well, but head coach Brian Callahan has worked with too many good quarterbacks to try and squeak by at the position. Shedeur Sanders from the University of Colorado is highly touted as well but has not been linked to the Titans as often in this draft cycle.
Tennesseee still has quarterback Will Levis on the roster, but he is yet to prove himself as a consistent player at the NFL level. It is not often that a team gets the first overall pick in the draft, so, barring a hefty trade package to move back in the draft, Ward could be under center for the Titans next season.
