The Kansas City Chiefs' offseason has been dominated by the offensive line and the questions surrounding it.
With Joe Thuney shipped off to Chicago, and the left tackle position now occupied by free agent signing Jaylon Moore, the Chiefs still have some holes that need plugging.
Uncertainty surrounds Wanya Morris and Kingsley Suamataia and what the pair can bring to the offensive line in 2025, which has led many mock drafts to pick the Chiefs to take another tackle like Josh Simmons or Josh Conerley Jr.
But for Pro Football Network, they go in a different direction, and get Patrick Mahomes another speedy weapon in Missouri's Luther Burden III.
"Luther Burden III is coming off a down season after a dominant campaign in 2023," Pro Football Network writes. "However, that was largely due to Missouri’s puzzling offensive scheme rather than a decline in talent.
"Burden is strong and physical in contested-catch situations. His ability to win in tight coverage should translate well to the NFL. Some teams may see him as a pure slot receiver, but once he’s free from his college scheme, Burden could unlock even more potential."
The Chiefs, in adding Burden III, will now have a receiver room consisting of Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, Juju Smith-Schuster and Marquise Brown. That is quite the collection of talent.
Great after the catch, Burden can separate from his defender and, with his 4.41 speed, while not in the Worthy class, can still fly downfield when needed.
Used largely as a slot receiver, Burden could become a favorite of Mahomes' while Rice, Brown, and Worthy work outside.
Given the talent already on the roster, taking a receiver doesn't seem feasible for the Chiefs, especially in the first round, but if Burden III does come to Kansas City, then Mahomes will no doubt be looking to air out the football more often.
