Marlon Humphrey said on his podcast that Patrick Queen should be careful what he wishes for after leaving the Ravens.
Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Patrick Queen has had some disputes on social media with Ravens fans and the Baltimore media since signing with the Steelers in March. But, in regards to his former teammates, it’s just been playful banter. However, Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey recently said that Queen should be careful what he wishes for.
“I’m not hating on Pittsburgh or hating on PQ. But I’ve been with the Ravens for awhile. I’ve seen this same story go down with a lot of guys. ‘It’s the best place on Earth, this new place, it’s not like the Ravens.’ Reality sets in eventually. I hope it’s great over there. But you know sometimes, I’m just saying, I’ve seen it once or twice,” Humphrey said on his Punch Line podcast.
The same could be said for several Steelers players who left the organization, however. Le’Veon Bell is a prime example. It’s not like Queen signed with the Carolina Panthers, which is probably the worst-run organization in the NFL. Queen is in a great atmosphere and playing for one of the best coaches in the NFL in Mike Tomlin.
Tomlin is stoked that Queen is a Steeler, too.
“You get an opportunity to get a guy like Queen, man; it doesn’t matter about the other components of the equation,” Tomlin said at minicamp. “He’s just a good, well-rounded football player, and he showed that here in a football-like environment. Can’t wait to get him to Latrobe.”
During OTAs, Queen attacked the culinary scene of Baltimore in an interview with Mark Kaboly of The Athletic. Overall, he thinks Pittsburgh is just a better fit for him.
“It was a no-brainer,” Queen said. “At the end of the day, money makes you happy, but you also have to win to be happy. I’d rather win and be happy than be miserable with a lot of money. It’s a better atmosphere here for me. Everybody is cool, the people are cool, the players are cool and the food spots are better. I am a big food guy. I love food. I am more of a true food guy rather than a seafood guy. I like meat and stuff like that. It’s just a better atmosphere for me here.”
Humphrey joked that Queen went too far with attacking Baltimore’s culinary scene.
“I don’t even understand why he had to go in on Baltimore like that,” Humphrey said. “The city’s better, the food’s better, the color’s better. I don’t know what PQ has got going on. I know he’s happy over there. I did check in on my guy.”
Queen declared shortly after signing with the Steelers that he’s OK with being the “bad guy” in the Steelers-Ravens rivalry.
“It’s going to be weird, but I want to be that villain. I want to be that guy. I’m looking to do some stuff to them,” Queen said.
Queen and the Steelers will face the Ravens this season on Nov. 17 in Pittsburgh and Dec. 21 in Baltimore.
