Matt LaFleur Confirms Optimistic Injury News for Packers' Key Playmaker

One of Green Bay's receivers left Sunday's game banged up, but the Packers got good news from Matt LaFleur today.

As it turns out, a 34-0 was not all sunshine and rainbows for the Green Bay Packers.

While they were able to get a bunch of players on the field due to the nature of the score, some of that was not completely by design.

Christian Watson, who has been coming on of late, left the game in the second quarter with a knee injury after he got banged up on an end around where he nearly scored a touchdown.

Watson went into the medical tent, and it looked like he was going to be out of the woods with just a brief scare.

Watson returned to the game before shutting it down for the majority of the second half.

Remarks as the game ended were mixed.

Matt LaFleur said there was, "Some concern." about Watson's injury.

Watson said he was hoping for the best.

As it turns out, the Packers got good news on their emerging star at receiver.

Watson was diagnosed with a bruise, and it looks possible that he'll be ready to play on Sunday.

The Packers will need him.

Watson is the Packers' big-play threat at receiver. He's averaging 30 yards-per-reception since the bye week.

His speed and skillset opens things up for everyone else as well.

The Packers' passing game stalled once Watson left the game last night.

Perhaps that is coincidental. The Packers certainly have more than capable targets with Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, and Dontayvion Wicks all starting to play well.

With Brian Flores and Minnesota's vicious defense coming up next on the schedule, the Packers need all hands on deck.

Watson's ability to take the top off of opposing coverages could come in handy against Minnesota's blitz-heavy scheme.

Regardless, for now, the news is good for Watson.

We'll see how much he practices this week, but it appears the Packers dodged a major bullet as they gear up for postseason play.
