Kelly Stafford, wife of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, opened up about her reaction to October's trade rumors that hinted at her husband potentially joining the Minnesota Vikings.
On her podcast, “The Morning After with Kelly Stafford & Hank,” Kelly Stafford shared that the unexpected rumors caught her off guard. She recalled a moment when, scrolling through social media, she stumbled across the speculation.
“Matthew to the Vikings? I had a split-second thought of needing to look into housing in Minnesota,” she said with a chuckle, adding that her surprise was quickly followed by a reminder to herself not to ask Matthew directly.
“It’s not something you text, ‘Hey, have you heard if you’re getting traded?’” she explained. “He sees the rumors too, but I felt it wasn’t my place to bring it up unless he did.”
This isn't the first time Matthew Stafford has found himself the focus of trade rumors. Since joining the Rams in 2021 after a long tenure with the Detroit Lions, he has been central to the team’s offensive efforts.
However, after a challenging 1-4 start to the 2024 season, there was speculation that the Rams might consider a reset, with both Matthew Stafford and wide receiver Cooper Kupp finding themselves in the rumor mill.
But the Rams chose to keep their core intact, and their fortunes have since shifted, with a three-game winning streak bringing them to a 4-4 record.
Kelly Stafford admitted she wondered what might have happened if the Rams hadn’t bounced back, reflecting on the personal toll these speculations can take.
For the Stafford family, staying together remains a priority, with Kelly Stafford noting, "We’ve committed as a family to stick together wherever his career takes him."
