The New York Knicks are coming off their best season in the last 25 years. They took the first series of the NBA Playoffs against the Detroit Pistons 4-2 to set up a matchup with their division rival, the Boston Celtics, in the second round.
Some didn't give the Knicks a chance against the Celtics after they had failed to defeat them a single time in the regular season. It looked as though those doubters were going to be proven right when the Knicks faced massive deficits late in the early games, but prevailed miraculously.

While some would consider making the conference finals for the first time in 25 years a successful season, the Knicks' upper brass thought otherwise and fired head coach Tom Thibodeau.
Many names have been circulating in the rumor mill as potential candidates for the position, and one name in particular is gaining traction.
According to NBA Insider Brandon Robinson, Jason Kidd is a serious candidate to be in line for the job. The Knicks had reached out to the Mavericks regarding an interview, but have yet to hear back.
"Jason Kidd wants that job," Robinson heard from a trusted source. "When a team doesn’t shut down an interview request, it usually means the coach wants out. The Rockets shut it down with Ime Udoka immediately. The Mavericks haven’t said a word about Kidd and the Knicks."
Kidd led the Dallas Mavericks to the NBA Finals last season, but came up short against the Boston Celtics. It's unclear whether Kidd is happy in Dallas, especially after the blockbuster trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers for Anthony Davis.
If the rumors that he wasn't consulted prior to the trade are true, it's very possible he's upset with the Mavericks for trading a once-in-a-generation player. While the duo of Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis could be lethal in Dallas, they tend to get injured often.
Meanwhile, the Knicks have a roster that's ready to win now. If the Knicks truly believe Kidd is the man that can get over the hump and to the promised land, they'll likely do everything they can to bring him in.
