Mets Star Francisco Lindor Sends Clear Response to Red Sox Pitcher

The Boston Red Sox had more players/managers ejected than runs allowed on Tuesday night against the New York Mets, as home plate umpire Mike Estabrook ejected both starting pitcher Walker Buehler and manager Alex Cora for arguing balls and strikes in the third inning. Buehler hit Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor in the foot, but the hurler claimed that he leaned into the pitch.

Lindor then stole second base after Juan Soto came to bat, and Buehler complained. Estabrook threw the latter player out, and Lindor celebrated the ejection. Cora quickly came out of the dugout to defend Buehler and suffered the same fate.

However, Lindor extended an olive branch before Wednesday's game, via SNY.

"I ain't got nothing against Buehler," the 31-year-old said. "I'm a lover. But yeah, I wanted him to get out of the game, it puts them at a disadvantage."

"Now they have one less guy, and for the second day in a row they had the non-manager having to manage and make touch decisions," he continued. "It's not easy to do."

Cora skipped Monday's 3-1 win over New York to attend his daughter's college graduation, and Boston won 2-0 on Tuesday despite the ejections.

The Mets have lost three straight games for the first time this season and are 4-6 in their last 10. They're 1.5 games behind the Philadelphia Phillies for first place in the NL East.

New York will host the Los Angeles Dodgers over the weekend after its game in Boston on Wednesday.
