Miami Dolphins C Aaron Brewer spills the beans on his mysterious hand injury during training camp

It sounds like the Miami Dolphins are going to have some good news regarding a key piece of their roster when they take the field on Sunday afternoon to face the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Miami Dolphins C Aaron Brewer spills the beans on his mysterious hand injury during training camp

Starting center Aaron Brewer, who's been out of action for weeks due to a hand injury, told the local media on Thursday that he plans to play on Sunday.

So, what happened that forced Brewer out of action during the preseason?  Mike McDaniel was coy on the details of Brewer's injury during his press conferences.

However, according to Brewer, he actually suffered a break during a blocking drill during camp.

"I don't know which part it was.  It was like a combo block. I went through the nose guard, went to the linebacker.  Stabbed him in the chest, then looked at my hand, and I thought it was cramping.  I didn't even know it was broken.  Went to the next play, and I realized I couldn't even grip the ball when I had it. So I got an MRI. Come to find out it was broke."

Brewer says his hand is good enough for him to be able to snap the ball again.

"It's been good since I've been back out there practicing," he added.

If Brewer is indeed back this week, then that would have a bit of a domino effect on the inside of the Dolphins' line.  Liam Eichenberg, Miami's backup center, is listed as the starting right guard on Miami's latest depth chart, so Brewer's return should put him back there.  If Brewer is out, then Lester Cotton - who started in the preseason at right guard - would likely get the start.

Fortunately, it sounds like things are trending the right way for Brewer to play - at least if he's being honest about his status.  We'll find out if he gets a game designation when the final injury report is listed on Friday.
