NFL players rank the Dolphins quarterback a lot higher than you think.
Through the first four years of his NFL career, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa cracked the NFL’s Top 100 only once, coming in at 82 in 2023 while previously being unranked in his first two years, but that wasn’t the case in 2024.
The NFL Top 100 is a ranking done by fellow NFL players in an offseason poll based on last year’s performance, and this year’s ranking of the Dolphins quarterback may be a shock to some but poetic justice for others.
Hate him, or love him, the NFL players have spoken, and they ranked Tua Tagovailoa at 36 in the NFL’s Top 100 of 2024.
The Dolphins quarterback led the league in passing yards with 4,624, was second in yards per pass attempt with 8.3, second in yards per game with 272.0, third in completion percentage at 69.3%, tied for fifth in passing touchdowns with 29, and was fifth in quarterback rating with 101.1.
With numbers like that, it’s hard to argue against how high he ranked.
Tagovailoa beat out some notable quarterbacks such as Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, Aaron Rodgers, Matt Stafford, Jared Goff, Kirk Cousins, and Trevor Lawrence. He also ranked third in his legendary 2020 class, just behind Jalen Hurts and Jordan Love.
If you still have questions about why Tagovailoa landed where he did, the full video from the NFL’s Top 100 may help you understand.
Summing up the reasons why Tagovailoa was ranked where he was were his leadership skills, his accuracy with receiver-friendly passes that make deep throws feel like “an extended hand-off” as Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill attested to, along with Tagovailoa’s ability to scan the field and find the weakness in the defense.
Denver Broncos corner Patrick Surtain Jr. nicknamed him “Tua Dimes,” saying he “makes every throw look easy.”
Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby said that Tagovailoa may not be the prototypical quarterback, but he can “sling the ball around,” and he’s “electric.”
That’s high praise from some of the league’s best players that have gone head-to-head with the Dolphins quarterback.
It may have been a bumpy four years for the Dolphins quarterback, but one thing is certain. He has the full respect of his peers, and now all he has to do is prove them right.
