Micah Parsons addresses potential Cowboys training camp holdout amid contract negotiations

With mandatory minicamps underway in Dallas, Micah Parsons is present. However, he is not practicing with teammates as his contract negotiations continue. At some point, the Cowboys are expected to pay Parsons one of the league’s richest contracts but to this point, nothing has been agreed upon.

Micah Parsons addresses potential Cowboys training camp holdout amid contract negotiations

Until a deal is struck, questions about potential holdouts are going to continue for Parsons. After minicamps will be a trip out West to Oxnard as the Cowboys begin training camp. Parsons spoke to reporters on Tuesday and said he will be out there with the team, although no firm stance on potentially going out there for football activities.

“Micah Parsons said he’s already made his arrangements for Oxnard and he will be there, along with his family,” Saad Yousuf of The Athletic said via X. “Parsons said he will be on the field, regardless of contract situation, but he was noncommittal on if he’ll be practicing in Oxnard without a new contract extension.”

Official dates for Cowboys training camp have yet to be revealed. Sometime in late July is when preparation for the 2025 season will officially begin. Parsons will be there but his on-field status appears to be in question. Based on previous comments, you have to imagine getting back out there with his teammates is a top priority.

If this plays out similar to Dak Prescott or CeeDee Lamb, we will be waiting until closer to the beginning of the regular season. Dallas opens up on Thursday, Sept. 4, against the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.

Micah Parsons present for minicamp, speaks with Jerry Jones

Parsons was spotted on the field during the media viewing portion of practice. Instead of doing drills or going up against offensive linemen, he was spotted speaking with Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones. Jon Machota, also of The Athletic, snagged a photo of the apparent 30-minute interaction.

Later, Parsons revealed there was no discussion of his contract extension in the conversation with Jones. He did not say what the two were talking about when asked by media members. A timeline may have been presented by Parsons though, wanting to get something done in the month of July.

“I’m still hanging tight,” Parsons said via Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News. “I understand it’s up to (Jerry Jones), he gives the green light on everything. So hopefully something is done by next month.”
