Longtime Dallas Cowboys pass rusher Demarcus Lawrence signed a three-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks worth up to $42 million this week.
Lawrence spent 11 seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, but the team never advanced beyond the divisional round in the six playoff appearances he shared with them. In fact, the Cowboys haven’t reached the conference championship since their Super Bowl victory in the 1995 season.
The Seahawks spell greener pastures for Lawrence, who didn't mince words when it came to comparing his Super Bowl odds in Seattle vs. Dallas.
"Dallas is my home, made my home there, my family lives there," Lawrence said in an interview with Hawk Blogger. "I know for sure I'm not gonna win a Super Bowl there. So, yeah. We here."
Two-time All-Pro Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons took objection to Lawrence's comments, calling it "envy."
"This what rejection and envy look like! This some clown (expletive)!" Parsons said in a post on X.
Lawrence responded swiftly by throwing shade at Parsons' attention to his social media presence and podcast, which have taken criticism in the past.
"Calling me a clown won't change the fact that I told the truth," Lawrence wrote in response on X. "Maybe if you spent less time tweeting and more time winning, I wouldn't have left."
The 32-year-old’s time in Dallas ended on a disappointing note, as a Lisfranc injury limited him to just four games in 2024.
With three wild-card wins to show for his career in Dallas, Lawrence looks to continue his NFL journey with more postseason action in Seattle over the prospect of retiring.
"I still have a lot left in the tank, I definitely didn't want to kick the bucket too soon," Lawrence said.
