When thinking about Dallas Cowboys EDGE Micah Parsons, images of a whirlwind on defense likely come to mind. The 2021 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year has been a menace for opposing offenses since entering the league in 2021.
The former No. 12 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft arrived in Dallas after three seasons spent with the Penn State Nittany Lions. However, the path of the 6-foot-3, 245-pound star could have been very different, according to a recent revelation from Parsons.
During his "The Edge with Micah Parsons" podcast, Parsons discussed how Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide had different ideas for him coming out of high school that would've put him in the offensive backfield.
"Bama offered me ... to play running back," said Parsons.
Los Angeles Chargers safety Derwin James, the featured guest on this episode of the podcast, teased Parsons.
"No way. You ain't got no finesse, though, bro. I can't see you as a running back. No offense, bruh," said James. "I gotta give you that, you fast. So some people can't catch you. But I ain't see no wiggle!"
In Parsons' senior year of high school at Harrisburg (PA), he rushed for 1,239 yards and 27 touchdowns on 109 carries. Per On3, he was the No. 5 recruit in the 2018 class and chose Penn State over several blue-chip offers from Georgia, Ohio State and Alabama.
