Mike Evans reminds Buccaneers fans exactly why he's beloved in Tampa

Mike Evans has already cemented himself as a franchise legend for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and his legacy as an NFL great is secured as well. He could walk away from football right now, and his career wouldn’t be missing anything. However, ahead of his 12th season, the veteran receiver is preparing with the same level of hunger he had as a rookie, and that’s why fans love him.

He made that clear on a Wednesday appearance on the Up & Adams show. When Kay Adams praised him for the career he has already put together, he was quick to make it clear that he’s focused on doing more. He appreciates all the praise he gets, but he says he’s still chasing history and chasing greatness.

Mike Evans says he’s still chasing greatness ahead of 12th season

That kind of never-satisfied mindset is exactly why Evans has been so good for so long, and why he was consistently led the Buccaneers to success during his NFL career. After 168 games, 836 receptions, 12,684 yards, and 105 touchdowns, the six-time Pro Bowler is just concerned about what he will do next. As a fan, you can’t help but love to hear that from a franchise pillar.

As for what is actually next for Evans, he has the chance to reach a couple of special accomplishments in his 12th season. Team wise, the Buccaneers are seeking a fifth straight NFC North title. With all the talent Tampa Bay is returning, plus promising newcomers, they are expected to pull off that feat. Individually, Evans has a chance to etch his name in history by recording another 1000-yard season, which would break a tie with Jerry Rice for the most consecutive seasons with 1000 receiving yards.

Evans told Adams that he linked with Rice, who’s considered the greatest receiver of all time, this offseason, and the former receiver is actually pulling for him to break the record. Evans was surprised to learn that, but he’s certainly hoping to do it. Beyond that impressive feat, he’s hoping to lead the Buccaneers to another Super Bowl.
