Mike Tomlin Reveals Which Steelers Player Needs To 'Grow Up'

During the Week 13 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, Pittsburgh Steelers wideout George Pickens was flagged after a long catch for taunting and shooting finger guns into the stands. It was his second unsportsmanlike conduct of the game, normally resulting in a disqualification. But the finger guns penalty doesn't contribute to the disqualification rule, so Pickens remained in the game.

After the game, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said Pickens "just got to grow up, man," expressing his displeasure for his receiver's conduct.

On Tuesday when speaking to a pool of reporters, Tomlin refused to expound on the situation or discuss if he is or isn't concerned about Pickens' recurring penalties.

“I’m not going to give you any detail about what goes on behind the scenes in terms of his growth and development,” Tomlin said. “That’s my style, and I’m going to be really consistent in it. Being transparent with you guys doesn’t necessarily help or accelerate the growth process, and that’s my agenda, not necessarily feeding the beast.”

Pickens has been productive this season with 850 yards on 55 catches but has just three touchdowns as the Steelers prepare to take on the Browns again on Sunday.
