The Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Baltimore Ravens in a way that very few saw coming. It took six Chris Boswell field goals for the team to knock off the Ravens 18-16, even as their defense played lights for most of the game and allowed just two touchdown drives to the best offense in football.
While Tomlin was happy to sing Boswell’s praises at points, especially with a Special Teams Player of the Week Award likely coming down the pike, Tomlin is not happy about the way his team’s offense finished drives.
The Steelers have relied on Boswell often and have won two games this season when he has made six field goals. That is not sustainable, and Tomlin and the rest of the team know it, too. So, after the game, Tomlin made it clear that he is happy for Boswell, but wants to see more touchdowns than field goals.
"I love ‘Bos’ [Chris Boswell], and I’m tired of him getting Player of the Week. He probably got Player of the Week again this week. He is deserving of it, but it reminds us of our warts. It reminds us of the work that we need to do. But, man, no doubt I’m thankful that he’s on our team," Tomlin said.
Since Russell Wilson Since Russell Wilson took over, Wilson has been just seven of 24 in the red zone on throws. Over the last three games, the Steelers are second-worst in the NFL in red zone offense, scoring a touchdown on just 25 percent of the drives to the red zone.
It is clear that Pittsburgh needs to be better there to punch up against the AFC’s top teams, even with their defense playing as well as they have so far this season.
